What is RichCity Idol?
Established by Natasha Jung and Martin Hui in 2004, this student-driven initiative showcases Richmond's young singing talent. RichCity Idol is founded on three elements: music, community, and leadership. Running for its fifteenth year, this annual singing competition fosters district-wide collaboration and community spirit as high-school students from all over Richmond come together to work towards the singular goal of pulling off a show better than its precedents. RichCity Idol continues to grow and improve each year thanks to the collaborative passion and effort of youth from all over Richmond, and has manifested its place as a pillar community event.
RichCity Idol always promises to deliver each year. After months of preparation by idols and volunteers alike, an idol contestant from each high school in the Richmond school district will sing with all they can and create an unforgettable night full of talent. This year, industry professionals Angelina Pearl Cosens, Marie Hui and Racquel Villagante will be the judges of the show, guest performances by The Wishbone, CCIM Rising Stars and RichCity Idol 2017 winner Marielle Namuco will embellish the night, and YOU will be given the chance to decide who gets to be the next RichCity Idol. This will be an event that you will not want to miss!
Scholarship and endowment fund
In celebration of our 10-year anniversary in 2013, the RichCity Idol Endowment Fund was created in cooperation with the Richmond Community Foundation.
From this fund, scholarships will be awarded to students in Richmond that have contributed greatly in youth leadership and/or musical advancement in the community and wish to continue their learnings in post-secondary. For more information on how to apply, visit the Richmond Community Foundation website. To make a donation to the RichCity Idol Endowment Fund, you can donate online here and select the RichCity Idol Endowment Fund as the “specific fund to be contributed to”. Your donation will help students make their dreams a reality.
RichCity Idol is thrilled to be able to share the gift of music with the community. If your organization is interested in featuring a performance by RichCity Idol alumni, we'd love to hear from you! Please fill out this form to provide some preliminary details and one of our volunteers will then be in touch with you for further information.
For a RichCity Idol performance either by a group or individual, we kindly ask that you make a minimum donation of $100 to the RichCity Idol endowment and scholarship fund, managed by the Richmond Community Foundation. This fund helps recognize Richmond high school students who contribute to the advancement of performing and entertainment arts in the community, as well as students who wish to pursue a career in the arts.
Sincere thanks for your consideration. Please feel free to reach out to email@example.com at any time with your questions.
