This year, volunteers will have the choice of helping in the following committees:

Join the RichCity Idol 2017 Executive Team!

Are you looking for a unique and challenging opportunity to develop your leadership and event planning skills? Are you passionate about the musical arts, or showcasing what youth can do? 

RichCity Idol is excited to be opening applications for 2017 Executive positions! Executives selected through an online application and interview will be part of the planning and production of the 14th annual RichCity Idol show, held on May 30, 2017.

Executive Position Descriptions

1. Idols and Rehearsals Director
MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE LEADING A TEAM. Works directly with the competing Idols in communicating rehearsal times, meetings, collecting and distributing idol information and answering any relating questions. Must be capable of representing Idols as a whole and communicating effectively. Responsible in forming show performance (songs, choreography, outfits), ensuring any required supplies are obtained and working closely with vocal coaches. Will be working with the hosts to form the structure of the show, overseeing rehearsals and upholding idol contract values. Preferably have experience have in drama productions and/or dance, previous talent management an asset.

2. Finance and Administration Director
Coordinate and oversee ticket sales, while tracking finances and managing money. Record and distribute meeting minutes, book meeting rooms and update communication platforms (Facebook and Slack) with required information and documents. Work with Lead Producer and other committees to form budget, and be responsible for all reimbursements. Liaison with in-school student councils to ensure deadlines are met and brand uniformity is achieved.

3. Creative Director
Lead creative team, responsible for designing 2017 poster, show program, website graphics, t-shirt designs and assist in overseeing the artistic direction of the show. Work closely with photographers and videographers to complete promotional media. Must provide portfolio of previous work.
(Web designing skills are an asset; Wordpress skills may be required)

4. Sponsorship Director
Responsible for obtaining and following up on sponsorship from various businesses, including the media. Will be responsible for establishing monetary and in-kind sponsorships. Will work closely with Marketing and Creative Director to promote sponsors. Responsible for communicating and creating new relationships with these selected sponsors, and be comfortable and confident with speaking with businesses and the media. Responsible for providing sponsorship details including messaging, names, logos, prizes, complementary tickets, reserved seating, etc to appropriate team members for their roles. Responsible for coordinating sponsor thank-yous.

5. Day Of Show Director (previously Showtime Director)
Responsible for executing day of show plans and duties. Provides guidance for day of show duties, oversees execution of set up, shopping for required supplies and being front of house manager during show day. Leads volunteer roles on day of, and works closely with Creative Director to create decorations.

6. Stage Manager
Responsible for creating cue sheet, coordinating with guest performers and working closely with stage technicians on day-of show. Will be working closely with Hosts, Idols and vocal coaches. Work together with team to create show schedule. Previous drama production experience an asset.

7. Lead Photographer
Responsible of taking idol/executive portraits and day of show photography. Expected to have experience with a DSLR, an understanding of photographic techniques and be able to work hand in hand with Creative Director and Lead Videographer. Must provide portfolio of previous work.

Another Spring means another RichCity Idol show, and with only twenty days of preparation left, the team is so, incredibly excited to show off Richmond's newest talents. Although we're Springing into a new Summer and a new life as the school year slowly closes its curtains, we're so excited to have a walk down memory lane with a couple of our past contestants.  We've got RichCity Idol alumnus Kavya Balajepelli hosting alongside Kaylyn Munro (or K squared, if you will), an awesome performance from The Wishbone featuring alumnus Chris Yan, and of course, as per RichCity Idol tradition, RichCity Idol 2015 winner Hannah Goertz will return to blow us away yet once again. 

I personally can't wait for our own Idols' performances, though! Having dropped by their weekly rehearsals a couple times myself, I know that they're going to SLAY the stage. I swear, my heart melted at the sound of their smooth, buttery harmony when I heard their group performances, and I know that everyone else will too. Getting to know these ten talented spirits during their Idol photoshoot was such a wonderful opportunity to know that aside from their beautiful voices, these Idols are also incredibly beautiful people as well, inside and out. These kids will go far with their musical talent, so it's best if you come see them for the killer price of $10 before they make it big! What a steal. 

Sounds like quite the show, right? Can you believe that all of this happened in the fleeting span of six months? Honestly, I'm still having trouble believing that this is actually happening. I'm so blown away by the capacity and potential of all of our volunteers and executives this year that it makes my heart flutter sometimes. 

And with that, I hope everyone will have as much fun attending this show as I had organizing this event with the rest of the RichCity Idol Team.
